MOVING BEYOND "RAGS TO RICHES"

William F. Code, acct. 9045

Additional Information on William Code:

William F. Code was a clerk in the tax office at the Municipal Building in Brooklyn when he was severely injured in a gas explosion Jun 24, 1878.  Plenty of details in NY Times article the next day (the skin "torn completely from his face").  One clerk died.  Six weeks later he was 'recovered'.  In 1880 he was in the mountains (Schoharie Co), probably for his health.

William died Aug 30, 1883 at Summit, Schoharie Co, NY (King's Co, NY Surrogates' Court Estate Files).  [sending only pg2 of 4 pg file]

William attended St. Francis Xavier's College, NY (1865).
