Title
Update on Dawson Following Sentencing
Subject
Paragraph on Dawson following his arrest and sentencing in the assault of Mr. Potts.
Description
The paragraph, which appears in the third column of the page, reads:
"Peter Dawson. --The Sunday papers say that Peter Dawson, who was lately sentenced to State Prison for nine years and six months for stabbing Mr. Potts, of Brooklyn, has been particularly unfortunate during the past year. Twelve months ago, Mr. Dawson was living in clover in his snug crib in the Fourth Ward, surrounded by a smiling wife, a score of nymphs, an abundance of bad whiskey, and plenty of money. Now all the luxuries--money, wife and dance-house--have disappeared. It is stated that while Dawson was spending a few months on Blackwell's Island, his German wife took all the money he had, about $5,000, and left for the "Fader Land" with a big Irishman."
