OBITUARY NOTES
Daniel D. McCarthy, a writer under the name of Fidelis, died last Sunday at his home, No. 100 Havemeyer street, Brooklyn, from liver trouble. He was born sixty-six years ago in Ireland, and was a graduate of the University of Dublin. During the civil war he was a special correspondent.

DEATH LIST OF A DAY
Daniel D. McCarthy, who under the nom de plume of “Fidelis” was a contributor to various newspapers, and who died Sunday at his home, 100 Havemeyer Street, Brooklyn, will be buried to-day from the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Wythe Avenue. He was born in Ireland sixty-six years ago, and was graduated from the University of Dublin. At the age of seventeen he came to America and secured a position on The New York Tribune where, until the beginning of the war, he wrote market reports. Then he went to the front as a correspondent for The Tribune and later became associated with The Dry Goods Economist. He was its editor at the time it suspended publication. Five years ago he became connected with Mackey’s Guide, and retained the position until his death. He was a prominent member of Father Malone’s Church, and belonged to the Holy Name Society. He leaves a wife and one child
