LOST HIS MONEY.

Isaac Hopkins, of No. 118 East Twenty-eighth-street, yesterday made a complaint before Justice BRENNAN against Thomas E. Foran, a liquor dealer at No. 117 Avenue A, and Walter Hartford, his barkeeper, charging them with having robbed him of eighteen sovereigns, equivalent to about $88 of American money. The complainant alleges that after having partaken of liquor several times at the defendant's porter-house, he became perfectly unconscious. When his senses returned he discovered that the money with which he had intended to pay for the passages of himself and family to England had been taken. The prisoners denied the truth of the charge, but were, nevertheless, held in $500 bail to answer.

A Retraction.

ISAAC HOPKINS.

NEW-YORK, Friday, Jan. 20, 1860.

To the Editor of the New-York Times:

On the 11th inst. I preferred a complaint before Mr. Justice BRENNAN against THOMAS E. FORAN and WALTER HARTFORD, for larceny, a report of which appeared in your paper of the following day. Having become satisfied that the suspicion upon which I founded the charge was groundless, I now desire in this public manner to express my regret that I have been instrumental in wounding the feelings or injuring the reputation of the above-named respectable citizens, and will feel obliged by your inserting this card in your next issue. Yours, &c.,

ISAAC HOPKINS.
