James Drummond, acct. 16138

Additional Information on James Drummond:

James was janitor/porter for banking firm of J. & J. Stuart at 33 Nassau.  He lived in the firm offices in his last years.  His employer James Stuart died at age 77 on 3/26/79.  Just a few days before, "Jimmy" Drumond had told Stuart he was not well and that "I'm not long for this world" but that he would hang on as long as his employer did. "When you go," he told Stuart, "I will go too." And he did, dying a few hours after his employer. "Mr. James Stuart's Death," New York Evening Express, 3/27/79. NYC Municipal Deaths says James Drummond died 3/25/79 at age 80.
